My boyfriend Christian is an avid fisherman and is always bringing home his fresh catch, so we have to think of creative ways to cook it up. We were inspired by this recipe and adjusted it a bit for our tastes. This honey, ginger, and orange glazed fish is a light, satisfying, and flavorful dish! Christian has a fishing YouTube channel so we decided to join forces for this catch and cook video! Hope y’all enjoy and let us know if you try it out!
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh fish of choice (We used Sheepshead, but you could do salmon or really any fish)
- 1 orange, juiced
- 1 inch fresh ginger, grated
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 TB soy sauce
- 1 TB honey
Quinoa and veggies side dish:
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 box quinoa (we used rosemary flavored)
How to Make it
- Start by getting the water boiling for the quinoa and cook it according to package instructions since.
- Then chop up your onion, bell pepper, garlic, and cut your orange in half for juicing.
- When everything is chopped, heat 2 large sauté pans over medium high heat.
- Add 1 tsp olive oil to each pan and let them heat up. Once they are properly heated, add the peppers and onions to one pan and cook them until soft, but still with a slight bite to them (5-7 minutes.
- In the other pan, add in your fish and season with salt and pepper to taste. Go easier than you normally would on the salt since the sauce has soy sauce in it.
- Cook the fish on one side for 3 minutes until there’s a nice sear on the outside.
- Once the fish is done on one side, flip it over and start the sauce.
- Add your garlic and grate your ginger into the pan that the fish is in. Allow this to cook for 30-45 seconds.
- Once the bite is out of the garlic, juice the orange into the pan and let it reduce for 1 minute.
- When the orange juice is reduced, add in the honey and the soy sauce and let it cook for 1 minute until it becomes a glaze.
- Swirl the fish around in the glaze and flip to fully coat.
- It’s time to plate! Scoop the quinoa veggie mixture onto the plate and then add your fish on top. Spoon on extra glaze and then garnish with fresh chives!
- Hope you enjoy this light and fresh honey, orange, and ginger glazed fish!
