Bay Street Biergarten: Brunch Parties and Big Ol’ Brews

Bay Street Biergarten is a unique venue that has a southern take on a classic German Biergarten. What makes this restaurant especially unique is that there are beer taps in the communal tables, so you can serve yourself. The communal tables combined with the unique beer selection turn strangers into friends and makes for a friendly and inviting atmosphere.

bonding over bier

I witnessed bonding over bier when I went to the Backstreet Brunch, which was one of many brunch parties hosted by BSB (courtesy of the Becket Agency). It was filled with great food, happy patrons, and most importantly, slap on bracelets (so ’90s). My friend and I sat at a communal table and instantly bonded with the people next to us over the nostalgia from the music. I feel like this event really captured the overall essence of Bay Street Biergarten because the food and drinks really brought everyone together.

I also attended the Bridge Run After Party here because I knew it would be the perfect way to celebrate completing the race. As per usual, the atmosphere was fun and the DJ was killing it with the music. It was  also perfect weather to be out on the patio enjoying a few drinks. Since beer is literally in the name of the restaurant, you know the drinks have to be good; but let me tell you about the food.

The food

Bay Street Biergarten has the cure for the Mondays with their half-price burgers. I had the Truffle Burger and it tasted as luxurious as it sounds. The herb aioli gave it a unique pop of flavor and the meat was very well seasoned. I enjoyed the burger with a side of tots, which were on point as per usual.

Along with the burger you have a wide variety of choices for sides, which I love. Some places don’t even give you a side with your meal, which I feel is a rip off. My friend got the mashed potatoes as a side and they were so buttery and flavorful that I wish I could eat a bucket full of them.

If you come here for one of BSB’s famous brunch parties, I highly recommend the chicken and waffles. Their chicken and waffles is unique because they serve it as a sandwich. They also give you a side of fruit, which I think is funny because if you’re getting chicken and waffles, you’re definitely not trying to be remotely healthy.

To complement the chicken and waffles, definitely try their mimosas. You get your money’s worth with the mimosas because they are heavy on the champagne and add a splash of orange juice. I’ve seen them make them before and if you get the mimosa carafe for your party of one (which a lot of people do), it’s an entire bottle of champagne with a splash of orange juice in it. Now that’s my kind of mimosa.

join the party

If you’ve never been to Bay Street Biergarten, you’re missing out. The food and drinks are perfect complements to one another and the atmosphere is unbeatable. Next time you get a chance, head over to BSB, get a beer, enjoy the food, and join the party.
