As you already know, my cocktail of choice is anything featuring tequila, citrus, and maybe some spice thrown in there. Although I love these kinds of drinks, I often get out of that comfort zone, especially when a restaurant is doing something special with their cocktail program. At On Forty One, they make the sodas for their cocktails in house. This gives them the freedom to switch up their drinks and infuse unique flavors. In the case of the Seasonal Cooler, it features their homemade Strawberry Rosemary soda and gin, which is a perfectly refreshing drink to sip on their patio. Cocktail of the Week: The Wise Spaniard from Cannon Green
I drive by Cannon Green all the time and always thought it was just a fancy restaurant, but I’m happy to report that they have a killer happy hour! On Tuesdays, they have $5 margs and $2 tacos that change each week, so you get a different experience every time. The rest of the week, they have $3 beer, $5 house wine & well liquor, and $8 specialty cocktails.

Cocktail of the Week: “Et Tu, Brute?” from The Gin Joint
If you feel like you’re stuck in a rut of ordering the same drinks when you go out, the master mixologists at the Gin Joint will pull you right out. The Gin Joint parties like it’s 1920 with seasonal, speakeasy-style craft cocktails and bar bites with unique twists. Just looking at the cocktail menu inspired me to order something besides tequila for once, and I’m glad I did.

Cocktail of the Week: Mulled Wine
Although I try to cling to my margaritas all year long, it’s time to get a bit more festive in the booze department. With temperatures dropping below 40 in Charleston, the whole city is in a panic. Instead of the usual casual patio sippin’, people are stuck inside their houses under every blanket they own. While you’re huddled under those blankets, I have the perfect drink to warm you up even more: mulled wine. This recipe was adapted from my personal hero Ina Garten, so you know it’s gonna be good.
Cocktail of the Week: the Swizzle from Le Farfalle
I’m always game for a good happy hour, and Le Farfalle definitely delivers. Their “aperitivo” hour features discounted wine, beer, and their signature negronis. Le Farfalle doesn’t want you drinking on an empty stomach, so they have a selection of snacks that complement the drinks perfectly. Cocktail of the Week: Sichuan Sting from Xiao Bao Biscuit
When I visited Xiao Bao Biscuit for the first time, I was on a mission to get out of my cocktail comfort zone (AKA tequila) and try something completely new. I definitely accomplished that, because the cocktail I chose came with a warning from the waitress. She told me, “this may sting a little,” (hence the name Sichuan Sting) and I still went for it anyway.

Cocktail of the Week: Taco Boy’s Casa Margarita
With a nickname like Booze, I always try to sample different cocktails when I go out to places (for purely business purposes). Although I try to switch it up, there are some cocktails that just keep me coming back. The cocktail of the week this week will forever hold a special place in my heart and it is Taco Boy’s Casa Margarita.
