Taylor Swift has blessed us with two albums this year and I am here for it. Her style of music has changed over the years, but I feel like she always has a song for what I need in the moment. The song “champagne problems” has to be one of my favorites on her new album evermore. It inspired me to create a champagne cocktail and I was especially excited to create yet another double booze cocktail and create a unique twist to the classic French 75 cocktail.
Ingredients
- Juice of 1/2 a lemon
- Lemon wheel for garnish
- 1 oz gin
- 1 oz grapefruit juice
- Enough champagne to fill up your glass (you can use the cheap stuff, I did)
- 1/2 oz lavender simple syrup
- 1 cup ice
For the lavender simple syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 TB lavender (you can find it on amazon)
Bring the water and sugar to a boil. When the sugar dissolves, add in the lavender and remove from the heat. Let the lavender steep until the syrup cools. Strain and transfer into a mason jar/ tupperware.
How to make your champagne problems
- Fill your cocktail shaker up with the ice. If you do not have a cocktail shaker, you can totally just stir it together and strain it.
- Add the gin, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup into the cocktail shaker.
- Shake for 30 seconds then strain into a wine/ pretty glass.
- Top off your drink with however much champagne your heart desires/ fills up the glass.
- Cheers!
