Champagne Problems: A Taylor Swift inspired Cocktail

Taylor Swift has blessed us with two albums this year and I am here for it. Her style of music has changed over the years, but I feel like she always has a song for what I need in the moment. The song “champagne problems” has to be one of my favorites on her new album evermore. It inspired me to create a champagne cocktail and I was especially excited to create yet another double booze cocktail and create a unique twist to the classic French 75 cocktail.

Ingredients

Champagne Problems Ingredients
  • Juice of 1/2 a lemon
  • Lemon wheel for garnish
  • 1 oz gin
  • 1 oz grapefruit juice
  • Enough champagne to fill up your glass (you can use the cheap stuff, I did)
  • 1/2 oz lavender simple syrup
  • 1 cup ice

For the lavender simple syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 TB lavender (you can find it on amazon)

Bring the water and sugar to a boil. When the sugar dissolves, add in the lavender and remove from the heat. Let the lavender steep until the syrup cools. Strain and transfer into a mason jar/ tupperware.

How to make your champagne problems

  1. Fill your cocktail shaker up with the ice. If you do not have a cocktail shaker, you can totally just stir it together and strain it.
  2. Add the gin, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup into the cocktail shaker.
  3. Shake for 30 seconds then strain into a wine/ pretty glass.
  4. Top off your drink with however much champagne your heart desires/ fills up the glass.
  5. Cheers!
