Simple Pasta with Meat Sauce

This recipe is my go-to comfort food when I need a filling dinner and a glass of wine to wind down from the day. I have to credit my dad for the bones of this recipe, but I of course have to add a few twists of my own. This dish brings back memories of coming home from cross country practice in high school starving and exhausted, then this dish would help my body and my soul completely recover. I have had an insurmountable love for pasta my entire life and this dish is simple, but it will always be one of my favorites.

The Green Heart Project’s Harvest Dinner: Celebrating a Year of Hard Work in the Garden and the Classroom

What is the green heart project?

The Green Heart Project is a farm-to-school program that utilizes in-school gardens as a teaching tool. During the school day and in the after school program, the curriculum from the school is weaved into the day’s lesson in a hands-on fashion that the kids truly enjoy. The students have the opportunity to plant the garden themselves and learn about where their produce comes from. At the end of every lesson, the children do a taste test of something from the garden, which is a great way to expose them to new fruits and vegetables that they may not have the opportunity to try otherwise.

Jack’s Cafe Review

Jack’s specializes in no-fuss diner food. I usually go there for breakfast, but I’ve heard their burgers are awesome too. My favorite item at Jack’s is none other than the Hangover Cure. It comes with 2 eggs, 2 of their giant pancakes, choice of ham, sausage, or bacon, and choice of home fries or grits. You get all of that for $10, so it’s a great deal. It is a lot of food so I rarely finish it and end up in a food coma, but I still enjoy the process of tasting all their classic breakfast items.

Farmer’s Market Ratatouille

I love this recipe because it is completely customizable to whatever veggies you can find at your local Farmer’s Market or whatever you have leftover in the fridge. This recipe is inspired by Ina Garten’s recipe for ratatouille in her cookbook Cooking for Jeffrey. You will see a lot of recipes inspired by Ina on here because I love her simple approach to food. Whether we want to admit it or not, we all could eat more veggies. This recipe helps accomplish that because you can make it ahead and it is all on one pan, so there’s very little clean up.

Charlie’s Grocery

Charlie’s is the quintessential corner store. It may look like a hole in the wall on the outside, but they have some great food on the inside. Their breakfast sandwiches are the perfect cure to hunger and more importantly hangovers. I am a big fan of the Colossal, which has everything but the kitchen sink within it. All you need to know is that it has a chicken tender and a hashbrown within the same sandwich.

They have other crazy sandwiches like the Shark Attack, which has chicken tenders and fries in sandwich form. They also have Boar’s Head meat, so if you’re looking for a lighter option, you can customize any sub that you want. It is a convenience store, so you can pick up some beer, grab some toilet paper, and get a great meal all in one trip.
