Stella’s specializes in both modern and traditional Greek cuisine. They keep me coming back with their phenomenal cocktails, appetizers, and hearty entrees. Whenever I have people visiting from out of town, Stella’s is one of the first places I suggest.
small plates ftw
During Meze Ora, Stella’s serves a variety of small plates for a bargain of $4-$6 per plate. I have tried a variety of the small plates and the keftedes (lamb meatballs) and grilled octopus are definitely my favorite.
The meatballs are tender, flavorful, and unique. I’ve never had meatballs without their best buddy marinara sauce, but these meatballs have so much flavor they stand on their own with no sauce at all. The grilled octopus is definitely the best octopus I’ve ever had. It’s tender, has a nice charred flavor from the grill, and the lemon vinaigrette gives it a nice tang.
meze ora is my new happy hour spot
In order for a restaurant to keep me coming back, they have to deliver in the cocktail department. My favorite cocktail from Stella’s is the Onassis, which is made with champagne, fresh mint, lime, and a rum floater. I will have to try and replicate this cocktail at home one of these days with the mint from my garden. It’s fresh and light way to kick off any meal.
Another great deal at Stella’s is their happy hour (Meze Ora). During Meze Ora, they have discounted small plates as well as cocktails, beer, and wine. They have a “cocktail of the evening” for just $6! The one I had when I went was a champagne and aperol spritzer that was light, refreshing, and sweet. They also have carafes of wine for $10 that are pretty sizable. Let’s just say Christian and I were feeling a bit tipsy by the end of the night.
but they have Big plates too
The entrees at Stella’s are a generous size for the price. You definitely won’t leave hungry and you may even leave with leftovers. I’ve tried the whole grilled fish (psari) and the braised lamb shank over noodles.
The lamb shank is definitely my favorite because it comes with a healthy portion of the No. 5 noodles. It’s so comforting and it’s definitely a dish I want to be curled up with on a rainy day.
Stella’s will keep me coming back because of their authentic, yet modern dishes. There is always something new to try and I will not stop until I have tried all the meze on the menu!
