Bachelorette Weekend in Charleston, South Carolina

Posing with an engagement ring on the Citrus Club rooftop in Charleston, SC

Since I am recently engaged, I thought it would be fun to put together an itinerary for a Bachelorette Weekend in Charleston, mainly focused on food and drinks. Since I live here, I won’t be doing my bachelorette here, but hopefully this will help some fellow fiancés! There is also a video version of this guide on my TikTok if you’re a visual learner.

Pineapple Fountain in Charleston, South Carolina

If you’re planning a trip to Charleston, South Carolina, let me be your personal food guide! A little bit about me: I’ve lived in Charleston, South Carolina since 2014 and have been actively involved in the food community ever since. I love sharing the many culinary gems we have here in the Lowcountry on my Instagram and TikTok, but if you would rather have those guides in writing, you’ve come to the right place. Not only do I love to explore Charleston restaurants from a diner’s perspective, but I’m also a food writer for Charleston City Paper, Charleston Living Magazine, and Mashed, so I usually have the inside scoop.

Pumpkin Spice White Hot Chocolate Cocktail

Finally, a use for the awkward amount of pumpkin left in the can after you make a recipe. This cocktail is perfect for when you want pumpkin spice latte feels, but it’s too late in the day for coffee. This hot cocktail will keep you feeling cozy from the inside out and is super simple to make. Hot chocolate isn’t just for the kiddos anymore.

Pink Cactus: Authentic Bites & All the Tequila

Spring Street is blowing up with new restaurants and Pink Cactus is a welcome addition! They specialize in authentic Oaxacan cuisine with plenty of tequila and mezcal cocktails to wash it down. We started out with shared apps and moved into a 4-course meal paired with cocktails. The menu items look familiar like chicken tacos and enchiladas, but you get hit with a flavor bomb from the authentic mole sauces that have such depth of flavor like you’ve never had before!

The Grocery Unveils a New Happy Hour

Y’all know I perk up whenever I hear talk of a new happy hour. I have been to the Grocery once for my 20th birthday brunch (tbt) and I had a decadent stuffed french toast that was bomb. Since I didn’t get to have a boozy brunch back then, I made up for it by checking out their new happy hour, which runs from 5-7pm Sunday-Thursday. All the food is $5 and under and the drinks are $6 a piece. For $6, you can normally get a vodka soda that’s mostly soda, but The Grocery is serving up complex cocktails on the cheap and I’m all about it!

Charleston Wine + Food Festival 2018 Recap

For those of you who don’t know, the Charleston Wine + Food festival is 5 days of heaven for foodies and pretty much everyone else. My experience at the Charleston Wine + Food festival was completely unique because I had a different role each day. I worked as an intern for the Culinary Talent team, took photos at 3 events, and attended as a guest on Sunday. Every role I had was as exciting as it was challenging. I learned a lot and ate a lot over these 5 days, so come along with me as I recap it.
