Bachelorette Weekend in Charleston, South Carolina

Posing with an engagement ring on the Citrus Club rooftop in Charleston, SC

Since I am recently engaged, I thought it would be fun to put together an itinerary for a Bachelorette Weekend in Charleston, mainly focused on food and drinks. Since I live here, I won’t be doing my bachelorette here, but hopefully this will help some fellow fiancés! There is also a video version of this guide on my TikTok if you’re a visual learner.

Hi! I’m Elise, a food writer and photographer in Charleston, South Carolina

Pineapple Fountain in Charleston, South Carolina

If you’re planning a trip to Charleston, South Carolina, let me be your personal food guide! A little bit about me: I’ve lived in Charleston, South Carolina since 2014 and have been actively involved in the food community ever since. I love sharing the many culinary gems we have here in the Lowcountry on my Instagram and TikTok, but if you would rather have those guides in writing, you’ve come to the right place. Not only do I love to explore Charleston restaurants from a diner’s perspective, but I’m also a food writer for Charleston City Paper, Charleston Living Magazine, and Mashed, so I usually have the inside scoop.

Pumpkin Spice White Hot Chocolate Cocktail

Finally, a use for the awkward amount of pumpkin left in the can after you make a recipe. This cocktail is perfect for when you want pumpkin spice latte feels, but it’s too late in the day for coffee. This hot cocktail will keep you feeling cozy from the inside out and is super simple to make. Hot chocolate isn’t just for the kiddos anymore.

Eating Local: Truffled Lobster Ravioli with Lemon Butter Sauce

Now that summer is approaching (or already here?) the local Farmers Markets are back in full swing and I’m ready to give them all of my money. Although my last statement sounds like I’m trying to ball out, my actual goal is to save money. Supporting these local farms and buying high quality products will hopefully encourage me to eat at home more often.

Balao: Rooftop Views & All the Seafood

Charlestonians are suckers for two things: seafood and rooftops. Balao is catering to these needs by serving their dynamic menu on a beautiful rooftop deck. Dynamic is almost an understatement, because they change their menu daily to ensure ultimate freshness. It’s so exciting that you could go back to Balao 3 days in a row and have a different experience every time. Now that the weather is warming up, Balao is going to be the new hotspot to enjoy fresh seafood paired with refreshing cocktails.

Charleston Wine + Food Festival 2018 Recap

For those of you who don’t know, the Charleston Wine + Food festival is 5 days of heaven for foodies and pretty much everyone else. My experience at the Charleston Wine + Food festival was completely unique because I had a different role each day. I worked as an intern for the Culinary Talent team, took photos at 3 events, and attended as a guest on Sunday. Every role I had was as exciting as it was challenging. I learned a lot and ate a lot over these 5 days, so come along with me as I recap it.

Review: Feeling 22 at 167 Raw

I took a little hiatus from reviewing, but I’m back and I’m another year older (and hopefully wiser). Last week I turned 22 and I had mixed feelings about it because I feel like 21 is more my aesthetic (and I have to change the header on my website); but I bet 22 will bring exciting things! I started off 22 strong with dinner at 167 Raw, which I’ve been wanting to go to for a while now. It was definitely worth the wait and the seafood was as fresh as advertised.
