Walking into the industrial-grade brewery that is Rusty Bull Brewing, you would never expect that the business got its start in a garage about 11 years ago. Co-owners Ben & Brian have a passion for creating a range of craft beers for every kind of beer drinker. Whether it’s a classic Belgian Ale or a Captain Crunch-inspired beer, they have something for everyone. I was lucky enough to get a tour of the facilities while sippin’ on some delicious brews, so I’ll share some tidbits that I learned along the way with you.
Charleston Chefs Tackle The Blended Burger Project
When it comes to burgers, everyone has their favorite toppings. My go-to toppings are sauteed mushrooms & onions and a dollop of spicy mustard. I’ve always thought of mushrooms as just a topping for burgers, but I’ve never thought of mixing them in with the meat itself until now. The James Beard Foundation’s Blended Burger Project challenges chefs to create burgers where 25% of the meat mixture is replaced with mushrooms. Before you go panicking about your precious meat being taken away, let me assure you that there is no loss in the taste or texture of these burgers. Not only that, but they are healthier and more sustainable to boot.

How to Eat/Drink Your Way Through Savannah in 2 Days
As one of my favorite comedians, Jim Gaffigan, says “vacation is us eating in a place that we’ve never been.” This really resonates with me because whenever I go on vacation, eating is the first priority. Luckily, my fellow foodies/Yelpies are a wealth of information and I was able to get several recommendations on where to go when I spent the weekend in Savannah. The open container laws allow you to wander around while getting drunk and eat at whatever place looks tasty in your drunken stuper. From that sentence alone, you can tell I had a great weekend.

Charleston Wine + Food Festival 2018 Recap
For those of you who don’t know, the Charleston Wine + Food festival is 5 days of heaven for foodies and pretty much everyone else. My experience at the Charleston Wine + Food festival was completely unique because I had a different role each day. I worked as an intern for the Culinary Talent team, took photos at 3 events, and attended as a guest on Sunday. Every role I had was as exciting as it was challenging. I learned a lot and ate a lot over these 5 days, so come along with me as I recap it.

Recap of Charleston Wine + Food’s Souls and Saints Event
This past Wednesday, I had the amazing opportunity to help out at/photograph for Charleston Wine + Food’s signature fall event: Souls and Saints. Unless you live under a rock, you know that the Charleston Wine + Food Festival is one of the biggest/ most fun food events of the year. Every year they give the public a sneak preview of the fun to come with a signature fall event.

Everything You Missed at Revelry Brewing’s Tres Años Block Party
This past Sunday I attended Revelry’s Tres Años Block Party, which was a celebration of their three year anniversary. This party combined all my favorite things: tacos, beer, and eating/drinking for a good cause. The ticket proceeds from this event benefited the Green Heart Project, which is a nonprofit that utilizes gardens as outdoor classrooms for schools in the Charleston area. I spent the day eating, drinking, dancing, and freaking out over the amount of cute dogs in attendance.

Restaurant Week part 2: Tacos & Tequila at Minero
Whenever I brag about Taco Boy’s Margaritas, everyone is like “but you should try Minero’s….” I would, but they always seemed to be packed when I go. Luckily, I snuck in for a late lunch and didn’t have to wait for it!

Restaurant Week Part 1: Take Me to 5Church
As you can probably guess, Restaurant Week is definitely one of my favorite weeks of the year. I get to try restaurants that I normally would not have the cash flow for, so I treat myself to an elegant evening of eating. For my first restaurant week excursion, I decided 5Church was the move.

Everything I Stress Ate During Hurricane Irma.. in CT
As Hurricane Irma approached, I happened to have a very well-timed vacation to Simsbury, Connecticut (where my bf is from) planned weeks in advance. We had no idea the storm was coming at the time we booked, but we really got lucky to get out of Charleston before the flooding. Even though I was far away from the effects of Irma, I was still worried about the entire city of Charleston as well as my sister who currently lives in Tampa. My Week in Review: 8/25
It’s been a busy week filled with my favorite activity: eating! I was trying to choose one event to post about this week, but I decided I should just include them all. This week has definitely been the busiest foodie week for me (4 dinners out in one week) and I don’t mind being busy if food is the time occupier. Keep reading to follow my adventures this week!
