Restaurant Week part 2: Tacos & Tequila at Minero

Whenever I brag about Taco Boy’s Margaritas, everyone is like “but you should try Minero’s….” I would, but they always seemed to be packed when I go. Luckily, I snuck in for a late lunch and didn’t have to wait for it!

Minero had a great Restaurant Week deal of 2 courses for $15 at lunch. The choices for the first course were classic apps like chips and salsa, chips and queso, etc. I went with the chips and queso because it doesn’t get better than spicy and melty cheese. Christian went for the vegetables con mole, which actually ended up being the best bite of the day!

show me the margarita!

Before we got the first course, we of course had to order margs (we were basically forced to). I was tempted to try the spicy or watermelon marg, but I decided I should just go for the classic on my first trip there. Even though I was not pleased with the price tag ($9) I was definitely pleased with the quality. This marg had the pure taste of tequila and lime, which is one of life’s simple pleasures in my opinion. I will definitely be coming back for the margs, but maybe at happy hour when they’re $2 cheaper ;).

spicy, melty cheese ftw

The chips were served in the cutest little pouch that I wanted to sneak home with me (filled with more chips). The queso itself had a nice kick from the chorizo and they had hot sauce on the table so I could add more, which I always do. The vegetables con mole were packed with flavor. They were pretty much addicting and I would’ve eaten more, but Christian started growling at me.

it’s taco time

For the second course, we had a choice of two tacos. I went for the roasted shrimp and the steak taco and Christian got the al pastor and the chicken. The roasted shrimp taco had a nice spicy kick to it, which I enjoyed. The steak taco lacked in the flavor department for me, which was disappointing. It just needed more seasoning all around.

I had a bite of Christian’s tacos and the al pastor was absolutely delicious (low key wish I got it). His chicken taco had a similar mole flavor to the veggies, so it was a winner as well. Don’t ya hate when the person you’re eating with gets better food than you? Ugh, the worst.

I will definitely go back to Minero for the margs and their guac, which I’ve heard is legendary. I’m sad that restaurant week is over now, until next year!
